I also didn't care for the music - 1960ish, slow Muzak-type instrumental as well as Amazing Grace. Had no reservations but was accommodated for 8 people quickly. Rating: 5 Went for dinner with my family today. What I would change: While my husband found the decor warm and homey, I found it - and servers dressed in traditional German costume - a bit campy and dated, albeit relaxing. The food was delicious, and the servings were generous, to the point that I left food on my plate. The photo shown is a good representation of what we received. We opted for the sampler paddle of beer (six glasses, I think), a wiener schnitzel with spaetzel and cucumber salad, and a jaeger schnitzel with spaetzel and braised red cabbage. Beverages and bread came out quickly, and our meals arrived in under 10 minutes. Thats why you can always count on us to quench your thirst with old. When we arrived, the restaurant was mostly empty, but we were greeted and promptly seated. Nothing goes with world-famous wings like a tall, frosty beer. Cafe Old Vienna had good reviews and is locally owned, so we chose it. After a week of, mostly, road and chain-restaurant food, we were anxious for something homestyle. However, the food was so freakin' good I kept the 5 star.My husband and I had a late lunch on Thursday 8/31/17. Both the dining room and the menu have an obvious German vibe. I almost dinged the 5 star rating to 4, because the bathroom was pretty messy, but that is fixable and I hope the owners read this and address that (it was pretty bad at the particular time we went). We'll probably revisit here next year actually, it was that good (and they had so much good stuff on the menu!). I think I overheard that sometimes they have live music there (I wouldn't have liked that, personally). Atmosphere of the place was nice, and had German style music playing in the background. Everything was really good, and I am a meat and potatoes kinda guy. My main meal was Chicken Cordon Blue, w/ German potato salad and home fries, and I added a shared side of spatzle (for those that don't know, like I didn't, it's like a stretched out dumpling/noodle of sorts). I personally had a potato pancake for starter (awesome!). We had a party of 9 people so overall we pretty much got a good sampling of the menu. Well, I'm happy to say the rating was well deserved! My in-laws were stationed in Germany back in their Army days, and they also gave it a big thumbs up. The overall rating for Cafe Old Vienna was 4-5 stars, so we decided to check it out. This time, I looked up German restaurants in Myrtle Beach and used reviews to guide our decision. A couple years ago we visited a German "hole in the wall" restaurant and the experience was not that great. We vacation in Myrtle Beach every year and try to find new restaurants to visit.
